Your Guide To Setting Up A Wireless Network
Is setting up a wireless network turning out to be more difficult than you thought? Is adding new devices to your existing wireless network becoming confusing and frustrating? Do you want to make sure your wireless network is secure but don't know how? You'll be amazed at how easy it is once you understand how wireless networking actually works.
There are tons of little videos on the Internet about logging on to a wireless router and doing some basic configurations. That's nice, but there's much more to it than that. What about gaming, printing, network storage and all the other cool things you can do with a wireless network? Here you'll find over 50 video tutorials covering everything from the basics of wireless networking to using the advanced features of your wireless router.
This site assumes you already have a wireless router. If you don't you'll find info on getting the best wireless router deals and the best router for gaming on my other sites. You'll also find selections of other wireless networking gear on the "Wireless Wish List" pages on this site.
The Purpose Of This Site
My goal is to help you through the confusing maze of wireless home networking technology. I do this with easy to follow demonstrations and explanations of how wireless networking actually works. Once you understand the basics of setting up a wireless network you'll not only be able to set up any wireless router but any networking device on the market such as:
- Printers and Print Servers
- Game Consoles and Game Adapters
- IP Cameras
- Media Servers and Media Extenders
- iPods and iPads
- Internet Ready TVs
Once you know exactly what you're doing you can stop relying on EZ Setup CDs and the other "convenience features" that don't always work. You'll be able to take advantage of everything wireless home networking has to offer and set up your own "Ultimate Wireless Home Network."
How To Follow The Videos
The best way to go through the videos is with menu bar on top or the list below. Follow the menu bar from left to right and top to bottom. The site follows a light organizational structure to go from the basics to more advanced topics. That doesn't mean you can't bounce around from place to place as you please. Just so you understand that if you're confused about anything in later sections it's probably explained in earlier ones.
To gain a good understanding of wireless networking as quickly as possible check out my new series on setting up a secure wireless network. It covers setting up security on your wireless router, connecting a Windows XP, Windows Vista and a Windows 7 system in 4 short videos.
For best video quality you can change the video resolution settings from 360p to 480p. This changes the video quality to High Def and makes a big difference. It doesn't work unless you do it after the video starts. Other than that the course is pretty self explanatory.
Enjoy!
